This piece represents an imaginary family member. Layers have been used to create depth, and textures. The various patterns cascade in and out of each other. The repeated tear drop motif can represent a sadness of not knowing them well, be seen as a common pattern found on African textiles, or as water droplets. I purposefully used these motifs which could have multiple meanings in my work so that it can mean anything to anyone, and people can insert their own stories into my pieces.
